Legendary Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen passed away this week at the age of 75, ending a 35-year reign in Denver. Peyton Manning offered his appreciation to the late owner.

Peyton Manning spent four years playing for Bowlen from 2012 through 2015, capping off his tenure with the Broncos by winning a Super Bowl championship, marking Denver's third Super Bowl title overall.

Manning took some time to reflect on his time with Pat Bowlen this week:

“I saw him several times throughout the years and had short, brief conversations with him that I really enjoyed,” said Manning, according to Ben Swanson of the Broncos' official team website. “Coming to play here for Denver, even though his health was declining, I did enjoy a couple of conversations with Mr. Bowlen. In my first year in 2012, I was here a lot in the offseason. As soon as I signed with the Broncos, I was basically living at the facility — studying film, rehabbing and working out. I was usually one of the last to leave the facility during that time. I say, ‘I thought I was the last to leave,’ but Mr. Bowlen was still there.”

Obviously, Peyton Manning is most known for his 14-year run with the Indianapolis Colts, but that does not mean the future Hall of Famer did not have a great time playing for Pat Bowlen and the Broncos:

“It was an honor to play for Mr. Bowlen’s organization, as I’ve said numerous times,” said Manning. “I always had great respect for the Denver Broncos during my time playing for the Colts competing against his organization. So much of that credit goes to Pat Bowlen and his desire to be the best and to win.”

After winning the Super Bowl in the 2015-16 campaign, Peyton Manning decided to retire.

He won two championships during his NFL career, with his first coming with the Colts in the 2006-07 season.
