The Denver Broncos have ushered in some significant changes this offseason. Unfortunately, it may take longer than expected for running back Phillip Lindsay to get acquainted with his new teammates.

Linday's stellar rookie year was cut short by a season-ending wrist injury. According toRyan O’Halloran of the Denver Post, general manager John Elway indicated that he may be forced to miss OTAs this offseason:

He said running back Phillip Lindsay (wrist) will also miss the first mini-camp and added, “I’m not sure about OTAs yet.”

The update should hardly come as any surprise considering how late in the season Lindsay suffered his injury. Fortunately, head coach Vic Fangio should already know full well what the young star brings to the table. This will allow him to seek out some other voids currently on the roster.

Lindsay became a central part of the offense last season after finishing the 2018 campaign with 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns on 192 carries en route to making history as the first undrafted offensive rookie to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl. This is likely the reason that Denver seems to be taking a cautious approach with his recovery.

Despite the stellar start to his career, Lindsay seems adamant about making his return as soon as possible. He knows full well that his absence will open the door for the other running backs on the depth chart to potentially etch out a role for themselves. After all, this was how he was given his opportunity last season. Regardless, it is safe to say that he is poised for another year as the Broncos' workhorse back.
