The Denver Broncos are set to wrap up what's been a disappointing season missing the playoffs for the second straight year. The National Football League franchise is hoping to do that with Paxton Lynch under center, who has been missed time due to injury.

Much of this has centered around the inconsistent play under center that has significantly contributed to the team's struggles on the field. With that in mind, head coach Vance Joseph voiced on Monday that the team wants to see second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch playing in the season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.

By way of Aric DiLalla of Denverbroncos.com:

“Our goal is to see him play, so absolutely,” Joseph said. “If he’s ready to go next week, he will probably play for us.”

This will hinge on the health of Lynch heading into the contest, as he is still dealing with a nagging high ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 12 against the Oakland Raiders. He was able to partake on a limited basis on last Wednesday and Thursdays along with being a full participant on Friday.

Brock Osweiler drew the start against the Washington Redskins and played the whole game completing 22 of 38 passes for 193 yard and an interception.

With Trevor Siemian out for the season, Osweiler has failed to make a strong case for being the long-term answer under center for the Broncos. Lynch hasn't exactly looked the part either, but he has yet to receive a true shot at working through his development with his only appearance being against the Raiders.

If the 23-year-old is able to go through practice this week heading into the season finale season, he could be in line to get the start against the Chiefs.
