It is nos secret that Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum has struggled under center in the 2018 NFL season. Fortunately, head coach Vance Joseph indicates that it does not seem to have affected his standing with his teammates.
Keenum's tenure in Denver may have gotten off to a rocky start. However, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, Joseph says the team still has complete confidence in him moving forward:
“I think Case has played better and better,” Broncos coach Vance Joseph said. “ … I think our players trust him, they believe in him. We have things we can do better, coach it better … but when it comes to guys believing in our quarterback, and what he can do, they believe in Case.”
It is encouraging to see that Keenum's struggles have not caused any sort of doubt in the locker room or among the coaching staff. While their optimism may simply be a result of a dominant 45-10 win over the abysmal Arizona Cardinals, there is still good reason for it.
Keenum's Bronco career got off to an interesting start with back-to-back clutch wins at the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, things quickly took a turn for the worst after Denver loss the next four games. They were finally able to get back into the win column against Arizona, however, the jury is still out on whether or not the offense has improved.
Regardless, the Broncos do not have much of a choice but to stick with Keenum. Their potential backup quarterback Chad Kelly recently got into some trouble off the field and his status with the team remains in question.
