Cleveland Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey has a lot to be excited about as the 2019 season approaches, however he is keeping a modest and focused mindset.

Kirksey has played his entire career with the Browns and although the future looks bright for the team now, it was not always so convincing. Kirksey was with the team during their winless season back in 2017 and now gets to be part of a team sure to succeed in the near future.

The Browns linebacker spoke on Sirius XM and expressed his feelings and mindset heading into the new season.

“So it’s like, we’ve got to just cancel out everything and just go to work,” Kirksey said. “And control what we can control and pay attention to the guys in the room and just get prepared for the season. Now, we’re just focused. We’re not trying to get overly excited or always looking at expectations and saying, ‘OK, we’ve got to be this team, we’ve got to do this.’ We’ve got to control our identity and what we want to be right now and I just block out everything and get to work.”

Kirksey has been a bright spot for the team over the years, but now doesn't have to be one of the sole contributors on defense as the Browns have acquired quite a few players to take pressure off him.

The Browns are looking more and more complete roster as the season approaches as the current defense is extremely talented from the front line to the secondary.
