The Cleveland Browns have placed a second-round tender on running back Kareem Hunt, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. While this does not guarantee that Hunt will be back with the Browns in 2020, it makes his return likely.

The Browns signed Hunt in February 2019 with the understanding that he would be facing a suspension for a domestic violence incident that occurred in February 2018.

Ultimately, Hunt was suspended for the first eight games of 2019, and upon returning, he rushed for 179 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He also caught 37 passes for 285 yards and a score.

Hunt is Cleveland's secondary halfback, as Nick Chubb is the primary ball-carrier, but the Browns like Hunt's versatility and would certainly like to see how Chubb and Hunt would work together over the course of a full 16-came campaign.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Toledo, was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round (86th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie season, racking up 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns while logging 4.9 yards per attempt. In addition, he hauled in 53 receptions for 455 yards and three scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The following season, Hunt appeared in 11 contests, registering 824 yards while reaching the end zone seven times as a rusher. On top of that, he snared 26 balls for 378 yards and seven touchdowns.

However, in November 2018, a video of Hunt's domestic violence incident from earlier that year surfaced, resulting in the Chiefs cutting him.
