The Cleveland Browns have gotten off to a spectacular start to the offseason following a couple of big-name trades. Needless to say, the Browns are looking to stay active throughout free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft as well.

However, it seems they are still waiting for left tackle Joe Thomas to make his decision on whether to return for the 2018 NFL season. According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Browns are prepared to go after New England Patriots left tackle Nate Solder as a potential Thomas replacement:

Terrelle Pryor could be coming back home, and the Browns will consider tackles such as Nate Solder to replace Joe Thomas, sources tell cleveland.com.

There has been some concern regarding Thomas' future after he let it be known that he was considering retirement. The front office has been adamant about giving the All-Pro as much time as he needs to ponder the decision, although he pledged to have the answer by the start of the new year on March 14.

Whatever reasonable doubts Thomas had at the beginning of the offseason have certainly been altered at this point in time. Not only did the Browns acquire a bonafide playmaker in wide receiver Jarvis Landry, they also added a quarterback that can get the ball to him in Tyrod Taylor. Furthermore, the front office still has plenty of more resources to toy around with in free agency and the draft.

Should Thomas go through with his retirement, then Solder would make for a viable replacement. However, Browns may face some stiff competition with the Houston Texans also reportedly interested in his services.
