The Cleveland Browns haven't gotten out to a hot start to the season, and coach Freddie Kitchens knows that starts with him. Kitchens is in his first year coaching, but with the high expectations, his seat is already getting warm, and his coaching needs to improve.

After the Browns were blown out by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, Kitchens' said he needs to do a better job of coaching the guys on the team.

“We’ve got to do a better job mentally; we’ve got to do a better job of coaching these guys,” Kitchens said via Browns Wire.

Kitchens also went on to say not only did the Browns players get outplayed, but the coaching staff also was outcoached by Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers coaching staff.

“They coached better than us, they played better than us in all areas.”

Kitchens was kept on to be the head coach because he worked well with Baker Mayfield, but that hasn't continued into this year.

Against the 49ers, Mayfield completed only 36.4 percent of his passes for 100 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Mayfield looks like he has taken a big step from last year, and his success could decide how long Kitchens stays in Cleveland. The Browns play the Seattle Seahawks in their next game, and the Seahawks defense has struggled at times so this year, so Mayfield should have chances for success.

It's a short week, but it's important that Kitchens and Mayfield get on the same page and have a big game.
