Cleveland Browns rookie cornerback Denzel Ward looks like he will be missing his first game of this upcoming Sunday.

Ward has been excellent for the Browns and has played in every game this season as a starting corner. Unfortunately for the Browns, Ward is arguably their best player in the secondary so it may be a bit easier for Cam Newton to throw on Cleveland's already suspect defense.

Ward made his presence known in the league in Week 1 as he intercepted Ben Roethlisberger twice as well three pass defenses. Ward was drafted fourth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft and has lived up to the expectations of his impressive play at Ohio State.

Without Ward, the Browns could turn to cornerback Terrance Mitchell, who suffered a broken arm and has been on injured reserve since earlier this season. As Ward recovers from his concussion, the Browns secondary will need the remaining members of their secondary to step up. Cam Newton and the dangerous Panthers offense is no joke despite their recent struggles.

Perhaps Cleveland's toughest task will be doing whatever they can to stop star running back Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey has punished defenses all season long, and he has been on a particular role lately, as he single-handedly dismantled Seattle's underrated defense.

Cleveland will surely miss Ward, but the concussion will likely only keep their stud cornerback out for this week only. Ward should be able to go next week against the Denver Broncos.
