The Cleveland Browns made some significant changes to their coaching staff over the last year. Fortunately, it did not take them very long to find their new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken.

It appears there was a strong sense of mutual desire to join up this offseason. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Monken was lured about the opportunity to join a winning football team:

“I’ve always chosen places based on people and the opportunity to win,” Monken said.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Monken's comments. The city of Cleveland has been synonymous with losing for quite some time now. Fortunately, the Browns were finally able to turn things around after finishing the 2018 campaign with a 1-8-1 record. It is clear that Monken is looking forward to helping with the resurgence.

New head coach Freddie Kitchens has already confirmed that he will be the one calling plays. Regardless, it is still safe to assume that Monken will have an integral role in helping to build the scheme on offense. He will certainly have a star-studded cast to work with beginning under center with quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The rookie was able to follow through on the hype of being a No. 1 overall pick. His success can largely be attributed to the stellar supporting cast around him. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry proved to be the safety net the Browns needed last season. Furthermore, running back Nick Chubb established himself as a bonafide workhorse moving forward. It should not be too difficult for Kitchens and Monken to come up with a balanced attack on offense for years to come.
