The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been busy upgrading their roster this offseason after a disappointing 2017 campaign. However, the team has also spent some time tackling other issues off the field as well.

General manager Jason Licht made headlines when he shaved his head in the team's annual “Cut for a Cure” fundraiser. As a result, the team has shot past their goal of $123,000.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Licht was just happy to get involved:

“I just wanted to be a part of it,” Licht said. “The organization does a great job with this every year, and I felt like I was missing out.”

Licht was not the only one to partake in the festivities. Quarterback Jameis Winston and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy were among the players who also got new hairdos in support of the cause. In fact, it was McCoy's $7,000 donation that helped put them over the top of their initial goal.

The cause hit close to home for Tampa Bay. Bo Wade is the 9-year-old son of assistant strength and conditioning coach Chad Wade, and he is currently battling cancer. Needless to say, it is uplifting to see the team rally behind one of its own through such a great cause. Furthermore, it is also encouraging to see the Bucs brass take the initiative to do so.

Childhood cancer is the second-leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14 behind accidents. Approximately 10,270 children were diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and that number is expected to increase moving forward, according to cancer.org.
