The Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed another transaction in the offseason by signing rookie offensive lineman Luke Goedeke, as announced by the team on its official Twitter account.

The Buccaneers took Goedeke in the second round in the 2022 NFL Draft as the batch's 57th pick overall. Goedeke, out of the Central Michigan football program, projects to be a depth guy for now for the Buccaneers' Tom Brady protection unit. However, there's clearly an opportunity for him to impress Tampa Bay enough this offseason to get named as a starter in the upcoming 2022 NFL campaign. Goedeke will be battling out for a starting role in training camps against the likes of  Aaron Stinnie, Robert Hainsey, and Nick Leverett.

Tampa Bay made sure to use one of their early picks on a body the team could add to its offensive line, following the retirement of Ali Marpet. And if we're basing on the talents of the two most recent tackles from Central Michigan to get drafted in the NFL prior to Goedeke, then what the Buccaneers got could turn out to be a very good one. Before Goedeke, Eric Fisher (drafted first overall in 2013) and Joe Staley (28th overall in 2007) were the last couple of Chippewas tackles taken in the NFL Draft.

Last season, the Buccaneers ranked no. 1 in the NFL with a 3.52 offensive sack rate and allowed the fewest sacks with just 23.
