The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ road back to the Super Bowl will get underway on Saturday when the Bucs host the Philadelphia Eagles. The Buccaneers are considered early favorites to win the Wild Card round matchup, and they just received a significant boost towards achieving that on Wednesday. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bucs activated running backs Leonard Fournette and Gio Bernard, as well as linebacker Lavonte David from IR.

This is a massive update for the Buccaneers, who have been plagued by injuries on both sides of the ball as the season was winding down. In addition to the return of Fournette, David, and Bernard, the Bucs activated star outside linebacker Shaq Barrett on Tuesday. They did, however, announce the loss of cornerback Richard Sherman for the remainder of the season.

While the loss of Sherman is concerning, the sheer number of talented players coming back for Tampa's Wild Card matchup should have fans feeling confident ahead of the clash vs. the Eagles.

David is one of the defensive leaders for the Bucs. The 10-year veteran featured in 12 games for the Buccaneers in 2021, recording 97 tackles, two forced fumbles, four QB hits, and a pair of sacks. He had been out since Week 15 after sustaining a foot injury.

Fournette, 26, has revived his career with the Buccaneers over the past two years. In 2021, Fournette rushed 180 times for 812 yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Additionally, the former first-round pick caught 69 passes for 454 yards and two receiving scores.

The veteran Bernard featured in 12 games this season, mainly in a backup capacity. He carried the ball just eight times this season for 58 yards during his first year in Tampa Bay.
