The Tampa Bay Buccaneers solidified their off-season to date by making sure all the starters from their Super Bowl winning team will be back for the 2021 season. As Tampa Bay looks to try and repeat as champions, they have re-signed a quarterback that could potentially backup Tom Brady this year.

Posted to NFL.com, Kevin Patra notes that the Buccaneers will be bringing back Griffin, keeping him with the organization for a seventh consecutive season. Griffin has largely been a backup for the Buccaneers since 2015, having only thrown four total passes in his NFL career.

For the Buccaneers, they bring back a familiar face after having a quarterback room that only had Brady in it, as Blaine Gabbert (last year's backup) remains a free agent.

Griffin may be best known for helping keep Brady upright at the Buccaneers Super Bowl parade.

What a job that must've been for Griffin. Perhaps this made it simple for the Buccaneers to bring Griffin back. He protects Brady at the parade, helps him look halfway competent and boom, here's a contract to put ink to paper on.

In reality, the re-signing of Griffin doesn't necessarily indicate that the Buccaneers are done addressing the backup quarterback spot. They will likely add at least one more name to the puzzle before training camp starts, whether that be via free agency or a late pick in the NFL Draft. Griffin could be competing for the gig regardless though. It certainly doesn't hurt that he was right by Brady's side helping him out during the Super Bowl celebration festivities.
