On Wednesday, June 1st, “The Match” will be held at The Wynn in Las Vegas between four of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL today. Tom Brady joins Aaron Rodgers against Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. They will square off in the annual 12-hole match play golfing event.
Tom Brady has always been known as one of the most fierce trash talkers. That doesn’t just exist in football, as he has shown previously having played in “The Match” before. He began the trash talk posting a photoshopped image of Josh Allen’s face on his son’s body on the golf course.
After going back and forth, Allen responded in kind, saying “I feel like I’ve got a lot of practice (trash talking) and just kind of wit and off the cuff stuff… Tom is going to have his little note card out there and he’s going to run out eventually and I don’t think he’s going to know what to do.”
Apparently Brady took offense to that notion and took the trash talking to a new level. Tom Brady didn’t just go after Allen, but melted Mahomes as well.
“I will come prepared like I always do to everything, and you know, it’s different, golf s— talk’s a little different than pro football s— talk,” Brady said. “Usually, pro football s— talk is, you usually have to back that up. Josh really hasn’t backed up much on the football field in his career, let’s be honest, especially playing against me.
“I would just say it’s going to look like what it’s looked like for a long time against him, and Patrick, although he’s played a lot of great games, he didn’t really win the important ones. He has won a few of the other ones, but not the really important ones.”
Josh Allen is 0-4 in his career against Tom Brady on the football field. With regard to Mahomes, Brady beat him in their two most important matchups, the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl.
As I mentioned, Tom Brady has been known to be one of the best trash talkers ever, but this sounded a bit personal. Next week we’ll see who gets the last laugh on the golf course.
