Everyone knows Joe Montana for his wildly successful tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, but not a whole lot of people remember that he spent his last couple of NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Some are worried the same fate will be bestowed upon Tom Brady after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Nevertheless, maybe it's just that people don't want to remember Cool Joe's stint in Kansas City.

Regardless, some have likened Tom Brady's decision to leave the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Montana switching teams back in 1993, but Brady doesn't think much of it:

“Life continues to change for all of us,” said Tom Brady when asked about the Montana comparisons, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

Montana was Brady's idol, and Brady saw Montana's final game at Candlestick Park.

Surely, he understands the parallels, but he says it's really just about having the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves regardless of the uniform he wears.

Brady may feel that way, but a whole lot of Patriots fans—and NFL fans in general—probably see the situation a bit differently.

The 42-year-old spent the first 20 years of his career in New England, winning six Super Bowl titles and cementing himself as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. In the eyes of many, Montana was the signal-caller that he surpassed.

For that reason, seeing Brady in a different jersey come Week 1 in 2020 will certainly be strange, but it's something that people will have to come to accept.

The Buccaneers have not made the playoffs in 12 years, representing the longest active drought in the NFC. However, Brady seems prepared to change that.
