Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo “couldn't care less” about winning the MVP or scoring title. After all, he doesn't want to focus on such goals that distract him from the rea important thing.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Antetokounmpo was asked whether he tracks the scoring title race, as well as the MVP battle. He's a candidate for both awards, though the other contenders seem to have overtaken him in the said categories. The Greek Freak, however, doesn't really put a lot of thought about the said individual accolades as he highlighted that takes him away from his true goals.

“It holds you back. I really believe in this,” the Bucks star said on focusing too much on the said awards. “You don't get to your full potential if you worry on those things. I'm obsessed with basketball, I really want to be the best that I can be. I've shown it times and times that I'm about that. I'm not about scoring champ, I couldn't care less. I'm not about MVP, I couldn't care less.

“I just want to be the best player that I can be, and wherever that takes me, I'm okay with that. If I keep worrying about winning the scoring champ … it takes me away from the goals I really want to achieve.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn't have said it any better. While it's nice to win the scoring title–an award he has yet to get after being already an MVP, Finals MVP and DPOY–it certainly shouldn't be the focus. After all, some players who tried taking the scoring championship ended up sacrificing their teams and their chances of winning.

As everyone knows, Antetokounmpo is about winning and team basketball. There is no doubt he can put up monster numbers on a daily basis, but the Bucks leader knows his priorities.

His focus on improvement beyond anything else is quite impressive as well. He makes a great point highlighting focusing on one's self instead of what the others are doing. That way, he can go all out and really play better–all while being satisfied of what he has reached.

For what it's worth, Giannis no longer has anything to prove. He's already an NBA champion, and while there is more to achieve in a personal and team standpoint, it's all just adding to what has already been a truly Hall of Fame career.

At just 27 years old, Giannis can surely do and achieve a lot more in his career. He isn't even at his peak yet, but he has already so much to show. And as he just highlighted, the secret to that is improving every day and setting goals that really matter to him.

“I try to close my social media, throw all those distractions away and just focus on–tomorrow, today–how can I get better, how can I make free throws, how can I improve my jumpshot, how can I be a better teammate, how can I be stronger, more explosive, how can I make good decisions, how can I enjoy the game, how can I focus on myself without being selfish … those are the things that allow me to reach my full potential. An those are the things I worry about every single day–not scoring champ, MVPs,” Antetokounmpo furthered.
