Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo loves to joke around. If you have heard his postgame interviews, you know he loves his dad jokes. However, he was certainly not kidding when he said early in his NBA career that he wants to win MVP.

An old video of Giannis' interview with the media resurfaced recently showing the Bucks star talking to reporters in a media huddle. While it looks like it was just another normal interview with a player, it is noteworthy since he said that he wanted to “win the MVP.” Of course it seems like he was joking at the time (and his tone suggests that as well), but the fact that the reporters laughed shows that no one really believed he could do it.

When the Bucks drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo with the 15th overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, analysts saw him as a high-ceiling player. Of course there's the possibility he could be a bust, but Milwaukee took the risk knowing that the Greek forward is a long-term project.

Sure enough, no one expected Antetokounmpo to become the superstar he is today. He is now a two-time MVP and an NBA champion, something that perhaps his family would only believe if you tell it to anyone back in 2013.

Giannis worked his way up and improved on a yearly basis, eventually paving the way for him to be an impactful player. It is worth noting that there was also an interview with him after his draft when he was asked whether he'll contribute on offense and defense, to which he answered both. Living up to that statement, he became one of the best defenders in the league with a Defensive Player of the Year honor to prove it.

This 2021-22, the Bucks leader has also worked on his shooting, and at just 27 years old, he still has a lot of years left in his prime. With the way he is working, it is not impossible for him to win more silverware in his trophy cabinet. Besides, this is THE Giannis we're talking about.
