Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer doesn’t believe Giannis Antetokounmpo's back injury is a big issue, according to Kane Pitman of Locked On Bucks.

During a conference call with reporters on Friday, Budenholzer said Antetokounmpo's back is just tight right now and should be resolved very soon.

“It’s just tight,” Budenholzer said of the Most Valuable Player’s back. “I think starting camp and getting in shape and all kind of the normal stuff. I think we’re very hopeful that it will resolve and not be any issues.”

Antetokounmpo, who recently signed a $228 million supermax extension with the Bucks, missed the final preseason game on Friday against the Orlando Magic due to ‘back soreness'. However, as Budenholzer said, his back injury is no big issue.

In the Bucks’ previous two preseason games against the Dallas Mavericks, Antetokounmpo played 25 and 27 minutes. Considering how many minutes he played in those games, sitting out against the Pelicans was understandable. In those games, Antetokounmpo averaged 24.5 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The 26-year-old forward also shot 51.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range.

Coming into this season, Antetokounmpo (+450) currently has the second-shortest odds to win the 2020-21 MVP award, according to Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill. Nevertheless, despite having the second-shortest odds to win the MVP award, Antetokounmpo has made it clear that his number one goal is to win a championship.

This past offseason, the Bucks made some major moves by acquiring All-Star guard Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans in a four-team deal. Now that the Bucks have a third star in Holiday, they'll be seeking to win their first championship in 50 years.
