The Buffalo Bills just entered the offseason following their heartbreaking overtime loss. They fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round at Arrowhead Stadium.

Despite the overall highly successful season, there is always room for improvement on an NFL roster. Not only this, but many Bills players are now free agents in the off-season. 16 players have expiring contracts, including quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and two high-salary defensive ends. That being said, here are the top three free agents that the Bills should target this offseason.

Bills Free Agent Targets for 2022 NFL Offseason

3. Tyrod Taylor – Quarterback

The Bills are set when it comes to their starting quarterback. Josh Allen proved once again this season that he is one of the top-performing quarterbacks in the league. However, when things got a little rocky this season, their backup didn't perform to expectations.

Trubisky had short appearances in four games this season. While there isn't much to look at, it's obvious that he doesn't have what it takes to attempt to fill the big shoes of Allen.

This is where Houston Texans free agent Tyrod Taylor comes into the discussion. Tyrod Taylor's 1 year, $5.5 million contract with the Texans expires following the 2021-2022 season. The 32-year-old played in six games this season, throwing for 966 yards and five touchdowns. Similar to Allen, Taylor is also valuable outside of the backfield. He rushed 19 times for 151 yards and three touchdowns in the six games he appeared in for the Texans this season.

2. Akiem Hicks – Defensive End

Akiem Hicks is someone that would be a great addition to the Bills' defense. The 32-year-old defensive end is coming off of his 4-year, $48 million contract with the Chicago Bears.

As mentioned previously, the Bills might be without two of their defensive ends next year with both Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison entering free agency. Hicks recorded 25 tackles, five for loss, as well as 3.5 sacks for 26.5 lost yards.

Even as a potential backup, Hicks would perform better under the coaching of Leslie Frazier and Sean McDermott than he did under the Bears staff this season.

1. Keanu Neal – Linebacker

This last pick is another defensive player, because the Bills need reinforcements on the defensive side of the football. In their loss to the Chiefs, their defense was unable to stop the Chiefs from scoring a touchdown in overtime. This is largely attributed to how tired the defense was from playing in such a physically demanding game.

26-year-old Keanu Neal is a great fit for this football team. At only 26 years old, the Dallas Cowboys free agent is coming off of his 1 year, $4 million contract. In the regular season, Neal recorded one sack and 70 tackles: 42 solo, 28 assisted and four for loss.

Neal is dominant in the middle of the field and has a promising future in the NFL as a middle linebacker. Like the other two free agents, he just needs the right coaching staff and team to surround him to reach his full potential.
