The Chicago Bulls have been reeling of late, which has forced Billy Donovan to shake things up in the starting lineup.

The Bulls had lost five of their last six and were 2-5 overall since Caruso's return from his wrist injury entering their Saturday night clash against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was reinserted into the starting lineup three games ago, but Billy Donovan has now plugged in rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu alongside him. The Bulls head coach spoke candidly on the move, in that it would reportedly ease the “burden” on AC.

Via Bulls beat reporter K.C. Johnson:

Billy Donovan said the decision to start Ayo Dosunmu again at PG was less about the Darius Garland matchup and more to alleviate the burden of running offense on Alex Caruso, freeing Caruso up defensively.

While Alex Caruso himself doesn't see it as a burden, he certainly sounds like he's in agreement with the Bulls coach on the move.

“I don’t know if burden is the right word. But I think it allowed me to play the game that I’m best at. I think I impacted the game really well and I only took (five) shots,” said the Bulls veteran.

Impacted the game really well is right. Alex Caruso finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists on just five shot attempt. He's always been the quintessential role player rather than the lead guard, and playing off the ball more seems like the right way to maximize his talent.

Dosunmu in turn also had himself an efficient outing in the backcourt, tallying 11 points on a stellar 5-for-6 shooting clip to go along with five assists.

With Lonzo Ball still on the shelf amid his injury setbacks, the other members of the Bulls backcourt in Caruso and Dosunmu need to step up as the postseason draws closer.
