Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen says power forward Bobby Portis will be available to play on Sunday when the team takes on the Brooklyn Nets.

Bobby Portis suffered a sprained right ankle on Dec. 19 and has been out of action since. One of the best defenders on the Bulls, the 23-year-old big man has only played in nine games this season. He missed 23 matches earlier in the year due to a knee injury.

Portis, who will become a restricted free agent once this season ends, is averaging 11.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game on the year and shooting 41.3 percent from the floor and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls are widely expected to offer the big man a $3.61 million qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent.

Chicago lost to the Indiana Pacers on Friday at home in heartbreaking fashion. Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo banked in a 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left in overtime to give Indiana the 119-116 win. With the loss, the Bulls dropped to 10-29 on the year.

Since taking over for Fred Hoiberg, Jim Boylen has gone 5-10. The 53-year-old coach probably can't wait to insert Portis into the lineup since he loves players who play with passion and defend at a high level.
