Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James stole the show Saturday when he participated in a Drew League game. The King had the crowd buzzing for his appearance, and he delivered with 42 points in a close win. Making this even more special was the fact that LeBron teamed up with Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan.

James took to social media afterward to shoutout his “dog Debo,” and DeRozan also put out a message on social media:

It was really cool to see these two stars team up in the Drew League. Imagine being one of their teammates or opponents in this game. That had to be quite the experience for them, and all the fans in the gym certainly were treated to a show.

Plus, DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James have a bit of history in the NBA. LeBron's Cleveland Cavaliers beat DeRozan's Raptors three years in a row in the playoffs, including a 4-2 win in the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals and two second-round sweeps after that. DeRozan was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard after the third straight playoff loss, while LeBron then went to the Lakers after the Cavs got swept by the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals.

Last summer, DeMar DeRozan dabbled with going to the Lakers to play with LeBron and Anthony Davis. DeRozan even met with the two Lakers stars and thought he was going to wind up there. Instead, Los Angeles pivoted to Russell Westbrook and DeRozan wound up with the Bulls, an old LeBron rival.

Seeing DeRozan and LeBron together in the Drew League had people dreaming of a real NBA team-up in the future. Never say never.
