Amid all the craziness of Thursday's 2022 NBA Draft, a rather sparse update on the injury status of Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball emerged. Unfortunately, it's not exactly the good news fans were hoping for.

In all fairness, there really is no negative update on the knee injury of Chicago's prized guard. Bulls general manager Marc Eversley spoke to the press on Thursday and he pointed out that everything's going well with regard to Ball's rehab:

As it is, however, it does not sound like Ball has made significant progress on his road to recovery. In fact, Eversley could not even commit to Lonzo being ready for the Bulls' training camp in September:

That can't be good. Ball missed the second half of the 2021-22 season due to a knee injury and the general expectation was that he's going to be ready to start the new season. At this point, however, this does not sound like a lock. The 24-year-old appears to be in a race for fitness as he looks to bounce back for the Bulls this coming season.

Ball signed a massive four-year deal last year as part of a sign-and-trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. He is under contract through 2025 and is expected to pocket upwards of $60 million over the course of the next three seasons.
