Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine won't be in this year's dunk contest. However, the athletic guard told Sam Smith of NBA.com that he's open to the possibility of joining the event again in the future.

“I’ll see how I’m feeling next year or the year after that. I’ve still got some tricks in my bag, so I might just do it.”

LaVine was part of the 2016 Dunk Contest that featured a classic finals between him and Orlando Magic's Aaron Gordon. It was so great that it set the standard for the said event in succeeding years.

The five-year veteran has just fully recovered from an ACL injury that cost him to miss the entire 2017-18 season. He returned this year and seems to be in tip-top shape.

So it's a nice thing to know that he is considering the idea of joining the dunk contest again in the future.

The Slam Dunk contest will be the main event for the All-Star festivities that will take place on Saturday, and fans are hoping to see another epic showdown between the league's best dunkers.

The sad thing is, those who have anticipated such thing from the dunk contest over the past two years have been left with nothing but disappointment, as the event has been underwhelming over the past two years.

It's safe to say, fans aren't only craving for an exciting dunk contest, but also for guys who has the talent, athleticism, and creativity required for a participant in such event.

Guys like LaVine.
