Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls are off to a good start to their 2021-22 NBA campaign as they defeated the Detroit Pistons on the road, 94-88, Wednesday to kick off their season. LaVine was understandably pumped up after the win, especially since he was a big reason why the Bulls are now 1-0.

Following the victory, LaVine spoke highly about the remodeled Bulls roster. LaVine clearly has elevated expectations of Chicago after the changes the team underwent in the offseason.

Via Eric Woodyard of ESPN:

“This ain't last year. We're looking forward now,” LaVine said of the revamped Bulls, who also added Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso to the roster. “It's a whole new team. A whole new mindset. So, I'm excited that we grinded that one out. A win's a win.”

LaVine led all scorers with 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field to go with seven rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. DeMar DeRozan chipped in 17 points, while Lonzo Ball put up 12 points with six rebounds and six assists. Despite the win, the Bulls still has plenty of work left to do before being taken seriously as a contender in the East, at least. They shot just 43 percent from the field against Detroit and shot just 7 of 23 from behind the arc.

The Bulls have not been to the playoffs since 2017, but LaVine is definitely hoping that they will be able to end the postseason drought this season. Getting win No. 1 is a step closer to that goal.
