New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, who will soon hit free agency, is in hot water following a video of him exchanging some verbal warfare with a juvenile heckler.

While the kid did initiate the whole thing by taunting the one-time NFL MVP about his impending status, some people are still blasting Cam Newton for allowing the young camper to get to his head.

The 31-year-old Cam Newton took to Instagram to address the whole thing on Sunday, explaining his side of the story that most people did not get to see after the initial clip went viral.

Cam Newton uploaded an extended version of his talk with the young heckler, where he tried to educate him a little bit. To his credit, the three-time Pro Bowl member did show great restraint during the whole thing and wished to speak with the boy's father instead.

But as much as Cam Newton tried to deal with the whole ordeal like a mature adult, it's pretty clear that the kid's sentiments about his uncertain NFL future struck a chord.

Cam Newton's likely one-and-done season with the Patriots will officially come to a close soon with the free agency period set to begin next month. It will be fascinating to see where the former NFL MVP's career goes, and under what conditions. The NFL quarterback landscape is going to change a lot in these months connected to free agency and the draft. How the Houston Texans handle Deshaun Watson, how the New York Jets deal with Sam Darnold, how the Denver Broncos adjust to their quarterback situation, and lots of other team-specific dramas will all be points of interest throughout the NFL, with the resolutions creating a domino effect for other teams. What happens to one team's situation and one player over here will have an effect on other teams in other places. Cam will be just one piece of a much larger puzzle.
