After coming away from the Arizona Cardinals' Week 14 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams with an injury, running back James Conner could be in line to feature against the Detroit Lions.

Conner suffered an ankle injury over the late stages of the Cardinals’ matchup against the Rams last week. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury initially listed Conner as day-to-day following the contest.

The Cardinals have since taken a conservative route in regard to Conner’s injury. They opted to hold him out of their scheduled practice sessions on both Wednesday and Thursday. He did make a return to practice on Friday, although he was a limited participant over the session.

During his press conference on Friday, Kingsbury provided some optimism regarding Conner’s availability for the team’s upcoming Week 15 matchup with the Lions, as he noted that he “feels good” about the possibility of seeing him feature in the game.

The Cardinals could possibly see running back Chase Edmonds tag along with Conner against the Lions. Edmonds has been on injured reserve since Week 9 due to an ankle injury. He has yet to be placed on the active roster, but Kingsbury sees that the versatile back could make his return to action this week.

“I think Sunday when he warms up, and if he feels good, he will be rolling,” Kingsbury said.

Conner has stepped up to the calling amid Edmonds' absence. He has recorded 207 rushing yards and five total touchdowns in Arizona’s last four games.

The Cardinals will aim to get back to their winning ways against the Lions, where both Conner and Edmonds may look to help quarterback Kyler Murray form a balanced offensive attack.
