The Arizona Cardinals were able to make some major improvements to their offense this offseason. Perhaps one of their more underrated moves was making sure to keep quarterback Brett Hundley around as the backup.

Hundley agreed to come back to Arizona on a one-year deal. He admits that the opportunity to play in his home state was just too much to pass up, via the team's official website:

“It was another good opportunity to stay where I wanted to stay, be where I wanted to be, be around family and friends,” Hundley said.

Hundley added that the offense is also an ideal fit for his skill set.

“This offense allows me to do everything that I can do and utilize to the best of my abilities,” he said.”

Hundley's decision to return is certainly understandable considering all the positives that came with sticking around for one more year. Not only is he able to stay close to home, but it seems he has become quite accustomed to head coach Kliff Kingsbury's scheme.

Hundley signed a one-year deal with Arizona last offseason following a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks. The team had been in the midst of some significant changes under center after taking Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent the year serving as the No. 2 behind Murray with his lone appearance coming in relief of the rookie versus the Seahawks in Week 16.

Hundley showed off his versatility against his former team by completing 4-of-9 passes for 49 yards and rushing for 35 yards in the 27-13 win. He will now have another year to showcase his abilities and potentially land a long-term deal.
