Kenyan Drake has been so impressive since the Arizona Cardinals acquired him in a trade with the Miami Dolphins ahead of the Week 8 trade deadline that he has essentially bumped former Pro Bowl running back David Johnson out of the rotation.

In six games with the Cardinals, Drake has rushed for 417 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He has also logged 22 catches for 130 yards.

Drake enjoyed the most impressive outing of his career during last week's win over the Cleveland Browns, racking up 137 yards on the ground while punching in four scores.

Due to Drake's production, Arizona general manager Steve Keim says the club would be happy to keep the 25-year-old halfback, who is scheduled to hit free agency this offseason:

“As far as waiting until after the season (to re-sign Drake), that's not necessarily the thing either,” Keim said on the Doug and Wolf show on 98.7. “I would certainly love to have Kenyan Drake back. I think he fits in this offense and he really has given us a spark in many ways.”

Keim notes that the Cardinals initially added Drake because both Johnson and Chase Edmonds were injured at the time, but obviously, Drake has exceeded expectations.

Drake, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Dolphins in the third round (73rd pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

While he was efficient in Miami, he didn't get a significant opportunity, as he topped out at 644 rushing yards in 2017.

However, it seems that Drake has found a home in Arizona, so long as the Cards elect to bring him back.
