Mavericks vs. Timberwolves Western Conference Finals Game 1 Results According To 2K24

According to our NBA 2K24 Simulation, the Minnesota Timberwolves will defeat the Dallas Mavericks 137-111 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Mavericks were able to keep it close until near the end of the second quarter. From there, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves exploded on offense, leaving Dallas behind in the dust.

The game was all but sealed in the fourth quarter when Minnesota took a 20+ point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. Mike Conley Jr. converted a 3PT Jumpshot with 3:03 to go, making the game 128-109, and that was the nail in the coffin. Even with three minutes left, Dallas only managed to score two more points in the final minutes, failing to come back.

Additionally, the Timberwolves led in several statistical categories. From field goals, three pointers, free throws and more, Minnesota literally dominated in every aspect in this game.

In terms of player performances, Anthony Edwards earned the game ball after dropping 59 points. Additionally, he earned 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while converting over half of his 3PT attempts. Rudy Gobert also played well, earning 19 rebounds, 14 points, a steal, and 5 blocks in the contest. Overall, the team relied heavily on Edwards, which worked out well for them in the end. They'll continue to rely on him in Game 2 and beyond.

As for the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic both put up 36 points apiece. Doncic added 7 assists while also completing 60% of this 3PT attempts. Irving, on the other hand, was only able to convert 4-of-13 attempts. Nobody else on the team was even able to post up 10 points or more in the contest, which ultimately explains why they lost. They need more effort from the rest of the team if they hope to win.

With the win, the Timberwolves take a convincing lead after a convincing win. The hope now is to win Game 2 at home, at least one game away, and close things up back at home in Game 5. I mean, a 4-0 sweep would be amazing for this team, but that's not going to be easy against Luka, Kyrie, and the Mavericks. Therefore, they'll keep things one game at a time.

With the loss, the Mavericks now trail behind, but don't count them out yet. This team has shown it can face adversity, and can tough it out for 6-7 games. If they can win Game 2 in Minnesota, they'll come home to a welcoming crowd in Game 3. However, another loss in Game 2, and this team might not want to go back home and face the fans.

In terms of accuracy, we feel the score was perhaps a bit too high. For some reason, whenever the Mavericks are playing, our simulations seem to end up with one team scoring 130+ points. We can try adjusting CPU Sliders, but we also don't want to make players miss every shot they attempt. We'll continue to rework our sliders until we get results we feel make sense.

However, one issue we've been able to fix is roster accuracy… for now. The problem is, creating custom rosters usually leads to game crashes. But since we only cover two series now as opposed to four or eight, we have more time to restart a simulation, if necessary. Regardless of all these obstacles, we just enjoy seeing who NBA 2K24 picks for fun.
