Kyler Murray just blew a birthday cake after turning 24 on August 7. Of course, the Arizona Cardinals had a surprise for Murray that, unfortunately for backup quarterback Colt McCoy, came at his own expense.

Cardinals quarterback coach Cam Turner and head coach Kliff Kingsbury hatched a plan that involved Cameo app, which allows celebrities to make personalized greetings to basically anyone who’s willing to pay for that kind of service. Knowing that McCoy is among the available personalities on the app, Turner, using a secondary credential and a fake email, asked McCoy via Cameo to greet a random quarterback from Texas.

Via Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official website:

“I was sweating I was so embarrassed,” Kingsbury said. “I knew it was coming but he didn't know.”

At first McCoy wasn't doing it and they were running out of time, so Kingsbury said they had to pay “like double the fee” to get it done in time.

McCoy, who was a former Texas Longhorn himself, didn’t respond to the request right away so the Cardinals pranksters had to shell out additional money just to complete the harmless ruse.

Here’s the hilarious end product by the Cardinals' coaching staff.

The Cardinals are clearly having fun this summer, will soon have to get their game faces on, with a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys coming up this Saturday.
