The Arizona Cardinals are looking to bounce back from their embarrassing playoff loss from last season and emerge as a true contender. But they will be doing so without DeAndre Hopkins for the first six weeks of the season as he serves a suspension. Former Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald thinks that they should be able to hold it down without him because of one key player: Kyler Murray.

Fitzgerald told NFL Network that he is confident in Murray's ability to put the Cardinals on his back with Hopkins sidelined. He added that even without Hopkins, Murray has talent around him to do well while his star sits out.

“There's nobody in the game as talented as, as diverse an array of abilities in terms of his athleticism, his ability to throw the ball going left or right…He's immensely talented. He's a guy that everybody around the league has to prepare differently for. You bring in [Marquise Brown], Zach Ertz is now coming into his second year, better acclimated with the system. James Conner is fully healthy going back into the year. I really like where they are positioned.”

The Cardinals did lose Christian Kirk and Chase Edmonds in free agency but still have a solid collection of weapons for Murray, namely James Conner and offseason addition Marquise Brown. For the first few weeks of their season — when they face the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Rams right out of the gate and then play the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5 — they will have to play their very best football.

Murray and the Cardinals have had a very rocky offseason as the star quarterback awaits a contract extension. Now that the drama has tempered down, they will have to work together to improve the team and get back to the postseason.
