Arizona Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray suffered an ankle injury in a Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers. As a result, he hasn't yet practiced this week. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury gave an update on his signal caller. Via Mike Garofolo:

That's certainly not a good sign that he hasn't been on the field, but Kingsbury's comments about Murray possibly playing in Week 9 regardless of how many reps he gets in prior is promising. The Cardinals QB hasn't missed a start in his NFL career yet. Murray was evidently banged up at times in 2020, but he played through the pain.

The former Oklahoma standout is lighting it up this season, throwing for over 2,200 yards and 20 touchdowns. He's also been lethal with his legs, rushing for 147 yards on the ground. The Cardinals were a perfect 7-0 before Aaron Rodgers defeated them on Thursday night.

If Murray isn't able to suit up backup Colt McCoy will likely slot in against the San Francisco 49ers. The long-term health of Murray is what's most important as Arizona looks to make some noise come playoff time. Considering it's just an ankle sprain, it shouldn't keep him out too long. It will be very interesting to see how the offense fares if Murray is sidelined in Week 9.
