Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim had a Fourth of July to forget after he got arrested for driving under the influence. And just like one of his players, he is likely to face the consequences of his actions.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Keim is facing a potential fine and suspension for his arrest. However, the length of the suspension and size of the fine remains unknown.

As Florio notes, the standards of discipline for front office personnel when they commit such offenses are not as consistent as it is for players, whose possible punishments have been agreed upon in the collective bargaining agreement.

He lists down several of the most notable instances of upper management and coaching staff getting into similar trouble over the recent past and what their subsequent punishments were. Some have been fined and suspeneded heavily, while others got relative slaps on the wrist with minimal punishment.

Keim’s blood-alcohol level will likely play a big part in the severity of the punishment he receives. It it’s revealed that he was highly intoxicated while he was driving, he’s likely to get a much stiffer penalty than if he were much closer to the legal limit.

And even if Keim does get suspended, it won’t have much of an effect on his actual job compared to players and coaches. He can still do most of his duties as the GM even while he’s at home serving out said suspension.

While it's an embarrassing situation and a stain on Keim's record, there's still a chance this arrest doesn't have too much of negative impact on his job moving forward.
