The Arizona Cardinals have lost five straight games to fall to 3-8-1 on the season, dropping them out of playoff contention.

But the Cardinals weren't expected to make the postseason this year, and they certainly seem to be in good hands with young quarterback Kyler Murray moving forward.

With the offseason approaching, general manager Steve Keim is excited about what he and his front office can accomplish:

“We’re going to be in a great situation from a cap standpoint, the best we’ve been in during my tenure here,” Keim said, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' team website. “Certainly we will have a better opportunity to be aggressive. I feel like we have a number of pieces on offense moving forward, young players that are our core. I think there is no doubt, because of some of the injuries on defense, some of the players that maybe didn’t have the performance we expected, that we have to address that area on all levels. We’re going to have a lot of fun this offseason putting this thing together and building around the core pieces we already have in place.”

This will mark the fourth straight year that Arizona has missed the playoffs, so there is a bit of a sense of urgency for the Cardinals at the moment.

However, thanks to Murray and a solid stable of young talent, the Cards are becoming a more attractive free-agent destination, which means the future could be bright.

We'll see if Keim and Co. can take advantage of it.
