The Arizona Cardinals offense was flat-out embarrassed by the Los Angeles Rams defense in Week 2 of the 2018 NFL season. However, that has not shaken head coach Steve Wilks' belief in offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

The Cardinals' struggles thus far have raised concern regarding McCoy's inability to devise a decent game plan thus far. According to Darren Urban of the team's website, Wilks sill has the utmost confidence in his coach:

Wilks, on his confidence level in OC Mike McCoy: “I have total confidence.”

While it is encouraging to see Wilks so adamant about his belief in McCoy, that does not change the fact that their offense has been virtually non-existent to start the year. Arizona mustered up just 213 yards in their 24-6 loss to the Washington Redskins in the season opener. Things got even worse against the formidable Rams defense after they failed to even cross midfield until late in the game.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment thus far has been McCoy's inability to get running back David Johnson going. He has failed to rush for more than 48 yards and his role as a receiver has also been minimal thus far. Meanwhile, quarterback Sam Bradford has not looked the part of a legitimate starter. The Cardinals had hoped that his addition would help stabilize the offense.

Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point where they may have to consider potentially handing the keys over to rookie quarterback Josh Rosen. Things will certainly not get any easier for McCoy and the offense when they host a talented Chicago Bears defense in Week 3.
