Boston Celtics center Al Horford will miss tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers as he recovers from a concussion, going through the NBA protocol for the injury, the team announced today via radio voice Sean Grande.

Horford caught an elbow from Atlanta Hawks swingman Kent Bazemore during Monday's game, which was not called a flagrant foul or been reviewed by the league office as of yet.

The lone remaining starter from last year's Celtics team missed three weeks of the season under the same protocol.

During a play in the second quarter, Horford tried to elevate for a finish at the rim and after pump-faking was a victim of a downward elbow to the head as Bazemore tried to prevent the score.

The play was ruled a normal shooting foul and Horford played the remainder of the game, falling one assist shy of a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and nine dimes.

The Celtics have now won nine in a row after starting the season 0-2, but will play their first game of the season without their frontcourt anchor when taking on the Lakers.

Horford must pass a series of tests before being incorporated back into the team. His absence will open opportunities for Aron Baynes and Daniel Theis to step up.
