Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell enjoyed one of the most illustrious careers in the history of the NBA. Russell won 11 NBA championships, among other accolades. A storied career like that produced plenty of prized Celtics possessions, for which Russell just cashed in on at a recent TD Garden auction.

That is some pretty epic memorabilia. The jersey worn by Celtics legend Bill Russell in the 1969 NBA Finals, Russell's 11th and final title, sold for a cool $1.1 million.

There's plenty of Celtics fans who would love to show off that jersey as part of their collection. But wait, there's more. Russell's first NBA championship ring sold for $705,000, with his 1956 Olympic Gold Medal hauling in just over half a million dollars.

Five of Russell's NBA Finals trophies brought in over a million dollars alone. In total, the auction at the Celtics' arena featured 429 of the Boston legend's items, with the top items bringing in over $5 million. What a haul.

Russell, who was involved in the civil rights movement during his Celtics career, has generously pledged some of the proceeds to an organization called MENTOR, which helps young people to find opportunities they might have otherwise missed out on.

Russell also pledged some money to the Boston Celtics United For Social Justice, which aims to fight racial injustice and social inequalities in and around Boston.

With so many great moments achieved on the court in his college career and time with the Celtics, it's no wonder that Bill Russell had so many sought-after items.
