Boston Celtics icon Bill Russell is moving on from his lovely Mercer Island home of nearly 50 years. Not only will the next owner of the home get a fantastic residence owner by an NBA legend, they'll also get a little something from Russell himself.

The Celtics star is leaving behind a small parting gift, but the message along with it just hits you right in the feels.

“I have left behind my trophy case and an autographed ball for the next owner, and I hope they enjoy the home as much as I have over the last almost 50 years,” said Russell.

They better enjoy it. Else it would be a disservice to the Celtics great and his touching request.

If any Celtics fan has $2.6 million lying around, I'm sure it would be dream come true to take over the home that brought joy to Bill Russell for nearly half a century. The home was just recently renovated and is a sprawling 4,250-square-foot home that's spacious enough to live quietly, which Russell emphasized he'll miss the most.

“I will miss the privacy, peaceful tranquility, the views of the lake and most of all my hot tub,” Russell said.
