The Boston Celtics got busy at the 2022 NBA trade deadline. After finally getting on the right track this season, they struck while the iron is hot. They swung a big trade for San Antonio Spurs point guard Derrick White and brought back center Daniel Theis in a trade with the Houston Rockets.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics made two more moves after the deadline. They signed center Luke Kornet and forward Sam Hauser to contracts for the rest of the season.

Kornet played 18 games with Boston last season and has played only a little bit this season, appearing in two games with the Cleveland Cavaliers and one with the Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 4.4 points in 14.1 minutes per game with the Celtics. Hauser, who was previously signed to a two-way contract, has played in 10 games this season for Boston, averaging just 1.2 points in 4.1 minutes per game. Both players are skilled 3-point shooters even though their percentages don't reflect that.

The Celtics now have three open roster spots and should get busy in the buyout market as they look to complete their roster. There should be several good options for them to improve their depth, particularly on the wing. While they could use more shooters, adding more defense may be the move.

Boston's defense is the reason for their recent success. At 31-25, they are seventh in the Eastern Conference after being three games under .500 in late December. Playing into their strength could be their best bet at improving their team as they look to make a deep playoff run.
