Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens says All-Star big man Al Horford has taken his game to another level, and health may be the biggest reason why the 32-year-old is playing so well right now.

Al Horford missed seven consecutive games in December due to a knee injury, but ever since he came back, he has been a different player. The five-time All-Star is averaging 12.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists over his last 18 games and 17.8 points in his last six games.

Brad Stevens knows how valuable and versatile Horford is, and the 42-year-old coach loves the way his veteran is playing for the Celtics.

“He’s just a guy that does a lot of things,” Stevens said, via Marc D'Amico and Taylor Snow of NBA.com. “And even when he wasn’t feeling great at the start of the year, he still contributes so much in so many different ways.

“Now that he’s feeling better, I think his game has gone to a different level and we’re benefiting from that in a big way. He’s a super important part of our team and we’re a lot better when he is really good.”

The Celtics are playing their best basketball of the season right now and Horford has been right in the middle of it. Boston enters Wednesday with a record of 31-19, good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
