Is Celtics' Marcus Smart playing in Game 1 vs. Heat

Celtics head coach Ime Udoka said Tuesday that Smart is still dealing with soreness and is “legitimately questionable” for the first game of this series:

Smart limped through the second half of Game 7 against the Bucks but continued playing. There was some nasty soreness and swelling on Monday, though, putting the Celtics guard and Defensive Player of the Year winner in danger of missing Game 1 in Miami.

The assumption is usually that Smart will tough out injuries and play, but he did miss that one game against Milwaukee last series. At this point, it seems as if he's truly up in the air. While losing Smart would be a tough blow on the road, don't forget that Boston smashed Milwaukee in Game 2 without him.

The Heat are dealing with a key injury issue of their own in the form of Kyle Lowry, who has already been ruled out for Game 1. Miami has a number of other players listed as questionable, though they're all expected to play.

So, when it comes to whether Marcus Smart is playing tonight vs. the Heat, the answer is we just don't know yet.
