The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors are in the midst of a fierce NBA Finals battle, with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday at TD Garden. Despite being on the biggest stage in basketball, however, Jaylen Brown hasn't forgotten the serious issue that is haunting the United States as a nation: Gun violence.

The Celtics star spoke out on Tuesday about how the country must make a change in its gun regulations and didn't rule out the possibility of the C's and Dubs boycotting the Finals in order to make a clear statement as they did prior to Game 2 with their “End gun violence” t-shirts.

Jaylen Brown on recent gun violence and if it will ever come to Celtics/Warriors deciding not to play:

“It could. Definitely things need to be addressed… It raises awareness. It gets peoples attention…I think it’s an effective strategy that could work. We’ll see.”

We saw the Milwaukee Bucks boycott a playoff game in the 2020 NBA Bubble against the Orlando Magic following the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Athletes have a platform to express their feelings. That's essentially what Brown is pointing out. The comments from the Celtics guard come just a couple of weeks after the horrific killing of 19 children in Uvalde, Texas, where an 18-year-old gunman opened fire. He also took the lives of two teachers.

It was an extremely senseless act and it's sickening in itself that a teenager can walk into Walmart and buy loads of ammo and any gun he desires. Changes must be made in the United States regarding their gun laws. Jaylen Brown, the Celtics, the Warriors, and most of the nation are fed up with innocent lives being taken away.

It needs to stop.
