Boston Celtics rookie Vincent Poirier has suffered a finger injury that will cost him six weeks on the sidelines. The 7-foot big man is scheduled to undergo surgery on his fractured his pinkie finger, the team announced Tuesday.

This is not exactly the biggest news coming out of Boston's camp, but it is still something that will have some sort of effect on head coach Brad Stevens' current rotation, especially with Robert Williams also out for at least three weeks. Poirier has made just nine appearance for the C's this season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 4.9 minutes per game of action.

The Celtics have been on a surge of late, and it does not appear they're going to terribly miss the services of Poirier as he recovers from injury. Third-year big man Daniel Theis has been manning the starting center spot all season long and has been doing a pretty bang up job, averaging 7.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 21.9 minutes per contest.

Theis' impressive play has kept veteran Enes Kanter below in the pecking order, with the 27-year-old logging just 16.3 minutes per contest off the bench. Kanter may see more minutes now, while rookie Grant Williams could also see more time at the 5-spot with Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier now out for a while. Or, perhaps, Tacko Fall gets a chance.
