This week, the League of Legends premier North American server, the Champions Queue, debuts. On the official website, Champions Queue is described as “a competitive matchmaking experience hosted on a private Discord server designed for the best West Coast North American players. Prizing will be distributed among the top competitors across three seasons throughout the year.”

The Champion's Queue was conceived because of requests from both professional and top amateur players for a way to continue leveling up their skill. It is an exclusive west-coast based matchmaking server, and entry is only granted to those who are in the invite-only Discord server.

According to the official blog post, “Access to Champions Queue will be limited at the outset, open to all LCS and Academy players, LLA players, the Top 16 NA Amateur Teams from both of the Spring Proving Grounds Qualifiers, and a handful of recent LCS alumni. Outside of those groups, we're providing a public application for other top players (Master and above) to assess opportunities in expanding our competitive offerings at the highest level.”

Champions Queue boasts a $400,000 prize pool, and roughly follows a format similar to that of the League of Legends Championship Series, or LCS. For more information, check out the official website at championsqueue.lolesports.com.
