Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers' incredible starts streak was in-danger earlier this week after Rivers suffered a concussion against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it appears he'll be able to play Sunday when the Bolts host the Buffalo Bills.
Per the Chargers' official Twitter account, Rivers was a full participant in practice on Thursday. Head coach Anthony Lynn admitted that there's still a chance that Rivers won't be cleared for Sunday, but he expects his starting QB to play.
From ProFootballTalk.com's Josh Alper:
“We think he’ll play, but that’s up to the doctors.”
Rivers has started in an incredible 194 straight games for the Chargers since taking over the starting job in 2006, including playoffs. It's been more than a decade since Bolts fans have watched a different quarterback take the first offensive snap of the game for their team.
In their first season in Los Angeles with a new head coach in Lynn, the Chargers' woes in close games from last season have continued. They currently sit at 3-6, losing five times by one score and three games by three points or less.
If Rivers is unable to go against Buffalo, Kellen Clemens would get the nod. The Bills made a surprising change this week by benching their starting QB, Tyrod Taylor, in favor of rookie fifth round pick Nathan Peterman.
