The Kansas City Chiefs have managed to end a historic drought with their win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54. It appears defensive tackle Chris Jones had a feeling that a victory was in the works leading up to the game.

According to ESPN's Adam Teicher, Jones revealed what he told his teammates before kick-off:

“Get used to not having a ring now because this is the last time we're not going to have a ring.”

Jones' foresight ultimately proved to be vindicated this time around. The Kansas City roster can take solace in the fact that they will have a ring to add to their trophy case.

There were a number of notable names on the Chiefs that had struggled to get over the hump throughout their illustrious careers. For starters, head coach Andy Reid was finally able to get the monkey off his back after failing to get the job done for so many years.

Meanwhile, players like safety Tyrann Mathieu and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs had linked up with the hopes that they could make a championship run and it is safe to say that their decisions have been justified.

The timing could not be more ideal for Jones as he gets set to test the market as a free agent after playing out the final year of his rookie deal. whether or not he re-signs with Kansas City for the long haul, there will be plenty of interest for an interior pass rusher of his caliber coming off a Super Bowl win.
