University of Missouri quarterback Drew Lock had hopes of eventually playing quarterback for his hometown Kansas City Chiefs, but with 2018 MVP Patrick Mahomes under center for the Chiefs, it doesn't look like Lock will ever get to live out that dream.

Lock spoke about that on SiriusXM NFL Radio, saying the only thing left for him to do now is beat his favorite childhood team in Kansas City:

“I remember where I was at when they picked Patrick Mahomes. I was pretty upset,” said Lock, who was still a sophomore at Missouri when the Chiefs selected Mahomes during the spring of 2017. “You know, you grow up liking a team, you want to go play for them … The only thing left to do is hopefully play them and then hopefully beat them in Kansas City.”

And you know what? Lock may very well end up getting the opportunity to do that twice a year.

Both the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos may be looking for a quarterback in this year's draft, and with the Raiders owning the fourth overall pick and the Broncos choosing 10th, there is a chance that he ultimately lands with one of the Chiefs' AFC West division rivals.

While Lock does not have the cache of Kyler Murray and is generally placed below Dwayne Haskins in mock drafts, he is still one of the top signal-caller prospects in this year's draft class.

The 22-year-old is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 3,498 yards, 28 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 147.7.
