The Kansas City Chiefs will be without their star running back in the biggest game of the season so far. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been ruled out for the Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This is according to NFL reporter James Palmer, who tweeted the news first Friday afternoon.

Riddled with injuries throughout the season, Edwards-Helaire only played in ten games for the Chiefs since September. He suffered a shoulder injury most recently in the Chiefs' Week 16 win over the Steelers.

Edwards-Helaire seemed to be making solid progress in his recovery, but things took a turn late in the week ahead of Wild Card Weekend. He went from limited in practice on Wednesday, to not participating in practice on Thursday and Friday.

With Edwards-Helaire out for the Chiefs' Wild Card game, expect running back Darrel Williams to have the majority of Kansas City's rushing attempts on Sunday. Although he is dealing with a toe injury, head coach Andy Reid does not expect it to affect him for Sunday night, per NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are also struggling with injuries in their passing game. Tyreek Hill is nursing a heel injury ahead of the postseason stretch, but it shouldn't affect his game-day availability. Hopefully, both Hill and Williams will continue to progress in their recovery to be available for the Chiefs vs Steelers matchup.
